Throughout its history and today, Food Lion strives to be a caring neighbor and good corporate citizen in the communities it serves. Through corporate and foundation giving, campaigns carried out by its more than 1,200 stores, local programs and individual employee involvement, Food Lion supports its communities and numerous non-profit organizations. Most recently, Food Lion committed to investing $1.5 million in the Institute and Bennett College over the next 3 – 5 years moving the College ever closer to its $50 million goal. Funds have been designated to scholarship support and programming to advance leadership development and training of women in the workplace.

Luke Visconti, partner and co-founder of DiversityInc, is a member of Bennett’s Board of Trustees. DiversityInc has donated more than $150,000 in advertising in DiversityInc magazine to Bennett College for Women. The magazine also served as Silver Sponsors for the September 21, 2005 Benefit Gala with former President Clinton and Senator Robert Dole that raised $545,000 for the College. DiversityInc has pledged $500,000 to the Institute designated to an endowed scholarship fund to support students majoring in Mass Communications and Business.
